Terms And Conditions

QUALITY STANDARDS.

All work is carried out in accordance with the latest edition of BS7671:2018. The installation will comply with Part P of the Building Regulations (2005). Where required, on completion DSJ Electrical Services will issue the relevant certification and inform your local building control office of the nature and extent of the works carried out.

GUARANTEE.

DSJ Electrical Services guarantees all work for 6 years from completion, provided that the work is not altered or interfered with in any way (including third party repairs). Materials and components are subject to manufacturers warranty, and are not guaranteed for 6 years. Any warranty jobs are only done by DSJ Electrical Services and other contractors services are not refunded.

WORKING PRACTICES.

  1.  Additional works (those not specifically noted in this quotation) will be subject to charges at DSJ Electrical Services normal rate of £60 per hour billed per 30 minute units rounded up to the nearest unit.
  2. All fittings remain the property of DSJ Electrical Services until full and final payment is received even after being installed.
  3. All fittings and components provided as white plastic conforming to the relevant British standards (unless otherwise stated or agreed).
  4. Where making good is necessary, DSJ Electrical Services will make good to a bonding coat finish only. This will require a smooth coat once dry.
  5. DSJ Electrical Services will provide materials and labour unless otherwise stated. 
  6. DSJ Electrical Services will have access to the property on the days work is agreed to be carried out. The job duration quoted assumes vacant access and the absence of delays or disruptions by other trades. Any delays due to disruption or impeded access may result in additional charges. Access to power & water is required, this includes pre payment meters being in credit.
  7. DSJ Electrical Services will not be responsible for waste removal, unless agreed prior to
    work commencing.
  8. Occupants will need to ensure that the floor spaces of all rooms are clear. Any delays due
    to unclear spaces will result in additional charges.
  9. Certificates will be forwarded on receipt of full payment, not all work requires certification.
  10. Parking permits are to be provided where required, otherwise parking costs will be added to the final invoice.
  11. It is the clients responsibility to ensure permission, building warrants and authorisation for any/all work required. For example obtaining permission for work on Grade 2 listed buildings.
  12. Free advice is general electrical safety recommendations individual to your needs helping to improve the safety of your property/premises.
  13. If DSJ Electrical Services do work (including fault finding or cable location etc.) then there is a charge and this is not included in free advice.
  14. Any equipment that needs to be hired, (i.e access equipment) other tradesmen (subcontractors, i.e. plumber/builder/carpet fitter/ decorator etc.) or any other large cost out of  DSJ Electrical Services control will be paid for in advance by yourself the client (or bill payer) in full before the first day of work direct or via DSJ Electrical Services to the subcontractor(s).
  15. Any “DEADLINE CLAUSES” including charges MUST be made available in writing to DSJ Electrical Services before the start of job OR within seven DAYS of start date for larger projects of twenty or more days project length or DSJ Electrical Services will not be held liable under any terms.

DISRUPTION.

Power may be turned off as the work is carried out and a temporary supply fitted. Flooring may be lifted to provide access. In order to run new cables DSJ Electrical Services may need to open channels in the ceilings and walls, DSJ Electrical Services will fill these channels to a bonding coat only. The above may not apply to every project and DSJ Electrical Services will advise you on the day.

DAMAGE.

DSJ Electrical Services will take every care to avoid damage during the execution of works, however, dependent on the age of the property and the type of work contracted it is possible that some damage may be inevitable, e.g. cracking or breaking of dried or wood wormed floorboards, cracks to plaster near channelling, carpets not refitting tightly. DSJ Electrical Services cannot be held responsible for repairs to such damage.

QUOTES.

Quotes given are fixed prices for the work stated, estimates are approximate minimum-maximum but never a final price. Free quotes are given at DSJ Electrical Services discretion, DSJ Electrical Services will only ever charge if DSJ Electrical Services have to get tools out or come across a dangerous situation which requires immediate attention.
Free quotes are only available within a 10 mile radius of 69 Lingfield Park, Bourne, Lincolnshire, PE10 0ZD. Outside of this area a small charge may be made to cover travel costs which will be reimbursed upon final invoice of work carried out.

DEPOSITS.

DSJ Electrical Services, will require the payment of a deposit prior to booking works into the diary. A date & time slot is only agreed when a deposit is paid. 

A contract is only formed after deposit is received and a date & time is arranged, no deposit means no guaranteed start date for work to commence.

Small jobs under the value of £200 normally have no deposit required. Returned materials due to cancellations may be subject to a wholesaler restocking charge. Deposits are required on every job over the value of £200. The deposit for all work over £200 is 30% of the quote/invoice amount. Quotes/invoices over £1000 in value can be split into three payments consisting of: deposit 30%, end of first fix 40% and end of second fix 30% as required.

PAYMENT.

All Jobs require a Deposit unless otherwise agreed, no other payment will be required until the works have been completed, except on invoices over £1000 where they may be split into interim payments or by prior agreement.
Upon completion, the balance of the monies owed will become due. Larger projects may require interim payments, and this will be agreed in advance.
DSJ Electrical Services accept most methods of payment including BACS, Cards and Cheques.
All materials including fittings, cables and other components remain the property of DSJ Electrical Services until full and final payment is made. First invoice is issued after each fix (1st& 2nd) and if payment is not received within 10 days (including weekends and bank holidays) a 10% fee is added as late payment and the late invoice is resent on day 11. Any discounts / special offers / promotions will be forfeited and reinstated back onto the invoice.
Strict 10 days to receive FULL payment, excluding down payments/deposits. Failure to settle account within one calendar month of invoice date will automatically start legal claims proceedings at the FULL rate of invoice. All legal costs, late payments fees, additional labour fees can be added to the invoice as a decision of DSJ Electrical Services. There may be a daily interest applied to any long term outstanding debts until payment cleared in full. Only one reminder is posted as an overdue reminder, this has the 10% late payment fee added.

CALLOUTS & RATES.

Emergency call outs are charged at the minimum charge of £60. This will be Payable by Card or cash when leaving the property regardless if repaired or return visit required. Return visit is invoiced separately and normally on day rates + costs. Normal working hours at single time are 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, including bank holidays, excluding Christmas / New Year. Out of these hours is charged at a higher labour charge. Emergency call out available throughout the year, 24hour, 365 days a year. (see above). Inspection and testing is normally included (unless otherwise stated) in all jobs and full certification given if applicable.
Certificates are only issued when payment is received in full and all funds have cleared. Duplicate certificates are charged at minimum £15 per A4 sheet. DSJ Electrical Services can change its terms and conditions at any time, only in writing if a current contract is already started. No future notice needs to be given to change terms and conditions.

NOTICE OF RIGHT TO CANCEL THE CONTRACT

The trader should complete Part 1 of this form. If the customer wishes to exercise his/her right to cancel the contract within the Cancellation Period Part 2 should be completed, detached and returned to the trader. If the consumer wishes for the work to be started prior to the expiry of the Cancellation Period Part 3 should be completed, detached and returned to the trader.

Customer Cancellation Rights 

You may have the right to cancel this contract if you wish within fourteen calendar days starting on the day this Notice of Right to Cancel is issued. Cancellation should be communicated in writing by delivery, post or email to the person shown above. You are advised to take a copy of the Cancellation Notice before returning it to
the trader.
The following Cancellation Notice (Part 2) may be used to exercise this Right as stated above, if using post it is advised to obtain a Certificate of Posting or Recorded Delivery Slip. Work begun prior to the expiry of the Cancellation Period If you require the work to commence before the fourteen day Cancellation Period expires you are required to confirm this in writing and can use Part 3 of this form to do so.
If you have agreed, in writing, that work will commence before the fourteen day Cancellation Period expires AND you subsequently cancel in accordance with your rights, you are advised that reasonable payment may be due for any work carried out.

 

Cancellation Notice

If you wish to cancel the contract you MUST DO SO IN WRITING and deliver it to the person names below either in person, by post or by email. You may use this Part of this form to do this but you do not have to.

If the customer agrees that work may start before the Cancellation Period expires they should sign below to confirm this agreement and that they understand that if they decide to cancel within fourteen days reasonable payment may be due for work carried out prior to cancellation.
